Manyinga Community Resource Centre Orphan & Vulnerable Children Schools Project

The Manyinga Community Resource Centre and the Parent Teacher-Associations in each community provide local governance for the Orphan and Vulnerable School project, with no administration costs for the Working Committee.

The Manyinga Community Resource Centre is responsible for:

  • Contracting teachers and labour
  • Budgets
  • Setting local priorities
  • Oversight of project and contractors, including
    • Input into targets
    • Securing community support
    • Achieving annual targets
    • Preparation of work plans
    • Delivery of weekly education
    • Management of fields, orchards, gardens, and livestock
    • Quarterly reporting to Canadian Working Committee
    • Sustainability plans

The Canadian Working Committee is responsible for:

  • Goal setting
  • Target development
  • Fundraising
  • Review and approval of annual plans, long-term plans, and work plans
  • Sustainability plans

A part-time project co-ordinator is on-site in Manyinga to prepare reports, communicate needs, and liase between all parties to ensure coherence. The fee for project co-ordination is $500/year.
